Ada Mae Vaughn was born on November 8, 1905, in Ashland, Kentucky. She had an older sister, Alberta Vaughn, who was also an actress. After their parents divorced, their mother remarried, and the family moved to California, where both sisters pursued careers in show business. Ada made her film debut in a short comedy in 1921.
Career
Vaughn signed a long-term contract with FBO in 1926 and starred alongside Tom Tyler in “The Arizona Streak.” Despite her potential, her career did not develop as significantly as that of her sister. She was a WAMPAS Baby Star in 1927 and later worked as a stand-in for actress Gertrude Michael.
Death and Legacy
Sadly, Ada Mae Vaughn passed away on September 11, 1943, at the age of 37 due to complications from abdominal surgery. She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Despite her struggles in the film industry, her work remains a part of Hollywood’s history.
