Adrienne Marden, originally named Mabel Adrienne Baruch, had a diverse family background. Her parents were Lenora I. Stein and Ralph Adrian Marden, and she had Jewish and Colonial American heritage. She was married twice, first to Whit Bissell and later to Wendell Holmes, and had two daughters named Kathy Eldridge Bissell and Victoria Lenore Bissell.
Career
Marden began her performance career on stage at the age of 17, appearing in the original Broadway production of “The Women.” After moving to Hollywood in 1943, she regularly acted in films and later directed at the Cleveland Playhouse. In 1966, she established The Player’s Production Company, notable for being the only professional touring company supported by the California Arts Commission.
