Born as Abraham Joachim on August 27, 1901, in Newark, New Jersey, Al Ritz had a significant career in entertainment. He was married to Antoinette “Annette” Calamari from January 26, 1927, until his death in 1965. They shared a long marriage, and he was known for being one-third of the famous Ritz Brothers comedy team, which gained popularity during the 1930s and 1940s.

Ritz initially had a solo career in vaudeville before teaming up with his brothers to create a unique comedic style. The Ritz Brothers became well-known for their performances in a series of films, including musicals and comedies.
