Alex Nicol

Born Alexander L. Nicol Jr. on January 20, 1916, in Ossining, New York, he was the son of a prison warden and a detention center matron. Alex developed an interest in acting early and trained at the Fagin School of Dramatic Art. He married Jean Coleman in 1948, and they had three children together: two sons and a daughter.

Early Career

Alex’s professional journey began in 1938 when he worked with Maurice Evans in Shakespearean plays. After serving in World War II, he returned to stage acting and received acclaim for his role as Brick in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” in 1956. His entry into film came when he was cast in “The Sleeping City” in 1950, sparking a successful acting career.

Death and Legacy

Alex Nicol passed away on July 29, 2001, in Montecito, California, due to natural causes. He left behind a meaningful legacy in both film and theater, remembered for his captivating performances and contributions to the arts. His long-time wife Jean and their children continue to celebrate his memory.
