Alix Talton, of part Cherokee Indian descent, began her journey in showbiz after winning a local beauty contest. She represented Georgia in the Miss America pageant in 1938 and worked as a model and singer, even performing in summer stock theater. Talton married three times, first to David Boyd Houman, then to Lewis George Kerner, with whom she had a son, and lastly to George Cahan, with whom she had a daughter.
Career
Her acting career began after being discovered by a scout while performing in Atlanta. Despite a break in her career due to a serious injury, she returned to the screen in the 1950s and appeared in various films and television shows throughout her life. She also gained media attention for advocating for her brother’s release from prison in the 1950s.
Death and Legacy
Alix Talton passed away from lung cancer on April 7, 1992, in Burbank, California. She left behind her children, Bruce M. Kerner and Claudia Cahan, along with two grandchildren. Her portrayal in the film “The Deadly Mantis” has been commemorated on DVD covers, showcasing her lasting impact on cinema.
