Allyn Drake was born on August 5, 1911, in New York City to Swedish immigrant parents. She had two siblings, Sigfrid Jr. and Gerda. After moving to Minneapolis, she began her acting career with a local stock company after finishing high school in 1929. Allyn first married James Wilcox but later took on the stage name “Vivian Wilcox” after their marriage.
Career
After moving to Hollywood, Allyn Drake made her film debut in the 1934 drama “A Man’s Game” and signed a contract with Columbia Pictures. She appeared in over a dozen films, including “Lady By Choice” and “White Lies,” often in minor roles. In 1941, she married actor Robert Lowery, with whom she co-starred in “Criminal Investigator.”
Death and Legacy
On January 1, 1945, Allyn was involved in a severe car accident that left her critically injured. She succumbed to her injuries on January 2, at the young age of 33. Allyn Drake was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, leaving behind a legacy of minor but memorable roles in early cinema.
