Aneta Corsaut

Aneta Corsaut was an American actress who is best known for her role as Helen Crump on The Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry R.F.D., and Return to Mayberry. Born on November 3, 1933, in Hutchinson, Kansas, she was recognized for her auburn hair and talent in acting.

Aneta Corsaut was born to Opal J. Corsaut and Jesse Harrison Corsaut. She studied drama at Northwestern University and left during her junior year to pursue her acting career. Corsaut had a strong passion for acting which led her to train under Lee Strasberg, one of the main figures in method acting.

Career

She made her television debut in 1955 and gained fame with her role in the 1958 cult classic movie The Blob alongside Steve McQueen. Aneta’s most iconic role was as schoolteacher Helen Crump on The Andy Griffith Show, a character she portrayed from 1963 to 1968 and reprised in later projects. Throughout her career, she appeared in several other television series and films.

Death and Legacy

Aneta Corsaut fought a battle with cancer and passed away on November 6, 1995, in Studio City, California, at the age of 62. She is fondly remembered for her portrayal of Helen Crump and her contributions to television and film entertainment.
