Bush began her career in Vaudeville during the early 1900s as part of the comedy team Williams and Walker. She gained fame as a stage actress in New York and later appeared in notable films produced by the Norman Film Manufacturing Company, which featured all-black casts.

Anita Bush passed away on February 16, 1974, in The Bronx, New York, at the age of 90. She left behind a legacy as one of the first black performers to make a mark in both theater and film during a time when representation was limited.
