She attended high school in Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas in 1957. Wedgeworth was married twice; her first marriage was to actor Rip Torn in 1955, with whom she had a daughter, Danae Torn. Her second marriage was to Ernest Martin, lasting until her death in 2017, and they had a daughter named Dianna Martin.
