Anthony Costello was born to Dorcas (née Curley) and Phillip Anthony Costello. He grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, alongside his brother Michael. After completing high school in 1955, he studied at several institutions, including the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Florence. He later earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Career
Initially, Anthony pursued painting but found his passion in theater. He toured with the Cleveland Playhouse in 1961 and later performed in Boston and on Broadway. In 1963, he moved to Hollywood to focus more on film and television roles. In 1974, he began writing a story that would evolve into a novel titled “Jericho,” published by Bantam Books in 1982, set during the Great Depression.
Death and Legacy
Anthony Costello passed away on August 15, 1983, at his home in Los Angeles due to complications from AIDS. His contributions to film and literature reflect his artistic versatility and dedication. Despite his personal struggles, his work continues to influence aspiring actors and writers.
