Antoinette Cellier was the daughter of actor Frank Cellier and was related to notable figures in the performing arts; she was the granddaughter of conductor and composer François Cellier and the great-niece of Arthur Sullivan. She trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. In 1940, she married Bruce Seton, and the couple remained together until his death in 1969. She also had a half-brother, Peter Cellier, who was an actor as well.
