Antonia Rey, born Maria Antonia Rey on October 12, 1926, in Havana, Cuba, was a talented actress who began her career in the 1950s. She married Andres Castro in 1958, and together they fled Cuba after Fidel Castro came to power in 1961. They eventually settled in New York City, where Andres founded the Westside Repertory Theater.

Career

Rey made her Broadway debut in 1964 and frequently portrayed Latina or Italian characters, often taking on roles as mothers or fortune tellers. Her contribution to the arts was recognized in 2003 when she received a lifetime achievement award from the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors. Over her career, she participated in numerous film and television projects, showcasing her diverse talent.
