Asmahan was born in As-Suwayda, Syria, on November 25, 1912. She was married to her cousin, Prince Hasan Al Atrache, from 1933 until their divorce in 1939, and they had one daughter named Camilla. Asmahan had a close relationship with her brother, Farid El-Atrash, who was also a famous musician and actor. Their mother supported their musical ambitions, encouraging them to perform at social gatherings.

Asmahan was a talented singer and actress, celebrated for her melodious voice. She starred in two notable films—”Intisar al-chabab” in 1941, alongside her brother, and “Gharam wa intiqam” in 1944. Her contributions to the film industry were significant, and her legacy continues through her music and performances.

Death and Legacy

Asmahan tragically died in a car accident on July 14, 1944, while filming “Gharam wa intiqam.” There are rumors suggesting her death might be connected to the secret service conflicts in Cairo during World War II.
