Astrid Allwyn was born on November 27, 1905, in South Manchester, Connecticut, to Swedish parents. She studied dancing and acting before making her Broadway debut in 1929. She was married twice, first to actor Robert Kent from 1937 until their divorce in 1940, and then to businessman Charles O. Fee from 1941 until her death in 1978. She had three children: Melinda O. Fee and Vicki Fee, both of whom became actresses.
Career
Astrid started her career in Broadway and then moved to Hollywood during the 1930s, gaining fame during the Garbo-mania period. Despite not achieving leading lady status, she appeared in many films as the “other woman.” She is remembered for roles in noted films like Love Affair and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. She retired after making Hit Parade of 1943 to focus on her family.
