Avet Avetisyan

Avet Avetisyan was an American actor who is best known for his roles in the film “Նամուս” and various performances in theatre. He made significant contributions to the Armenian performing arts during his career.

Personal and Family Life

Avet Avetisyan was born Avet Markosovich Voskanyan on November 24, 1897, in Tiflis, which is now known as Tbilisi in Georgia. He completed his education at the Nersisyan Armenian High School. After graduating, he served in World War I before pursuing a career in acting.

Theatrical Career

After the war, Avetisyan joined various theatrical groups starting in 1918. He worked at Amo Kharazyan’s theatre in Kirovakan (now known as Vanadzor) from 1920 to 1921. By 1922, he became a leading actor at the Sundukyan Drama Theatre in Yerevan, where he portrayed a wide range of classical and contemporary roles.

Death and Legacy

Avet Avetisyan passed away on March 29, 1971, in Yerevan, Armenia. His legacy lives on through his contributions to the Armenian theatre and film industry, influencing future generations of actors.
