In 1908, her family moved to Russia, and during the 1917 Russian Revolution, they fled to Poland, where they were imprisoned briefly. They were eventually allowed to return to the United States due to her American citizenship.
Career
Barbara won a Miss New York contest at Coney Island, leading her to Broadway and later Hollywood. She studied art and design at UCLA and became a successful interior decorator for many celebrities. By the mid-1940s, her business expanded to the East Coast, and she delved into fashion and cosmetics.

Barbara Barondess passed away on May 31, 2000, in New York City due to natural causes.
