Barbara Randolph was born on May 5, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of Lillian Randolph and had a family that included notable relatives like her aunt Amanda Randolph and grandfather Jesse William Randolph. She was married to Eddie Singleton until her death in 2002.

Career

Randolph began her career in music and was briefly considered to replace Florence Ballard in The Supremes, but that plan did not go through. She recorded solo music, including singles like “I Got a Feeling” in 1968, and she toured with Marvin Gaye when his partner Tammi Terrell was unwell. She worked with Motown throughout the 1960s and enjoyed a musical comeback in England later in her career.

Death and Legacy

Barbara Randolph passed away on July 5, 2002, in South Africa after a battle with cancer. Her contributions to music and film continue to be remembered, especially her performances during the vibrant Motown era.
