Beatrice Curtis was born Beatrice Antoinette Zinn to parents Anna Chandler and Jacob Zinn. She had a half-brother, actor Jack Curtis. She was married twice, first to Harry Fox from 1922 to 1934, with whom she had one child, and later to Sammy White from June 1940 until his death in March 1960.
