Bela Bose

Bela Bose was an American actress known best for her roles in “Jai Santoshi Maa,” “Shikar,” and “Bandini.” She was a talented dancer and performed in over 150 Hindi films during the 1960s.

Personal and Family Life

Bela Bose was married to Ashish Kumar from 1967 until his death in 2013. The couple had two children: a daughter, Manjushri Nayar, who became a doctor, and a son, Abhijeet Sengupta, who is a businessman and also an actor. Bela had a close-knit family, with her brother living in Canada and her sister in the USA. Tragically, both her elder brother and sister have passed away.

Career

Bela began her acting career as a group dancer to support her family after her father’s passing. She gained recognition for her glamorous roles in films, starting with “Sautela Bhai” in 1962. Throughout her career, she was celebrated for significant performances in movies such as “Amrapali” and “Wahan Ke Log.” Later in life, she transitioned into character roles, most notably as a villain in “Jai Santoshi Maa.”

Death and Legacy

Bela Bose passed away on February 20, 2023, due to cardiac arrest. Despite retiring from acting years prior, she fondly remembered her days in the film industry. Her legacy lives on through her memorable performances and her children’s achievements.
