Starting his career as a child actor in 1915, Alexander starred in films directed by legendary directors like Cecil B. DeMille and D.W. Griffith. As he grew older, he transitioned to performing in sound films and supporting roles, with a notable performance in All Quiet on the Western Front (1930). After a successful stint in acting, he shifted his focus to being a radio announcer before returning to television in the iconic role of Officer Frank Smith in Dragnet (1951).

Ben Alexander passed away from natural causes on July 5, 1969, in Hollywood, California.
