Beulah Quo

Beulah Quo was an American actress who is best known for her roles in Brokedown Palace, Chinatown, and Meeting of Minds. She was born on April 17, 1923, in Stockton, California, and passed away on October 23, 2002, in La Mesa, California.

Personal and Family Life

Beulah Quo was married to Edwin Sih-Ung Kwoh from August 18, 1946, until her death, and they had two children together. She had a rich educational background, holding a bachelor’s degree in social welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Chicago.

Career

After World War II, Quo taught in China and fled to the U.S. with her husband and infant son just before the communist takeover. She was a significant figure in the Asian American arts scene, co-founding the East-West Players, the first Asian American theater company in Los Angeles, in 1965, and the Association of Asian/Pacific American Artists to promote fair representation of Asian Americans in the media.

Death and Legacy

Beulah Quo died from heart failure on October 23, 2002. She is remembered for her contributions to the entertainment industry and her advocacy for Asian American artists.
