Bonnie Bolding grew up in Alabama, surrounded by several siblings. She participated in the Miss Alabama pageant four times, securing a scholarship to Howard College (now Samford University) and later to the Pasadena Playhouse for further studies. After graduating in 1955, she briefly pursued acting before changing careers.

Marriage and Career Changes

Bonnie was married three times: first to John David Manley III, then to Oscar Wyatt Jr., and finally to John E. Swearingen in 1969. After her early acting career, she became a Wall Street stockbroker in New York City. She and John traveled extensively due to his job, meeting various notable figures, including royalty and U.S. presidents. Despite being in high society, she was at times viewed as an outsider.

Death and Legacy

Bonnie Bolding passed away on August 2, 2020. In honor of her philanthropic efforts, particularly her support for Samford University, Bonnie Bolding Swearingen Hall, an arts center, was named after her. Her legacy is remembered through her contributions to both the arts and charitable causes.
