After his father’s death in 1895, Boyd was raised by his mother on their farm in Carroll, Ohio. He attended the University of Michigan but shifted his focus from academia to a career in opera and theater. Boyd married Mitzi Hajos, a renowned dancer and singer, in 1920, and they often performed together in various stage productions.

Career

Boyd began his entertainment career in vaudeville and later transitioned to film. He joined the Thanhouser Film Corporation in 1913, where he quickly became a leading man. Boyd starred alongside various actresses and appeared in numerous silent films, although he was not widely recognized despite early publicity attempts portraying him as “The Handsomest Man in the Movies.” He continued performing on stage, showcasing his talents in musical comedies.

Death and Legacy

Boyd Marshall passed away on November 9, 1950, at his home in Jackson Heights, New York. He left behind his wife, Mitzi, and two siblings.
