Brandon De Wilde

Brandon De Wilde was an American actor who is best known for his roles in Shane, Hud, and The Member of the Wedding. He gained fame as a young child actor and continued to work in film and television before his untimely death.

Personal and Family Life

Brandon De Wilde was born on April 9, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, into a theatrical family. He was married twice, first to Susan Margot Maw, with whom he had one son, Jesse deWilde. After their divorce, he married Janice Gero just a few months before his death.

Death and Legacy

Brandon De Wilde tragically died in a road accident on July 6, 1972, at the age of 30. He was driving to visit his wife, who was recovering from surgery, when he lost control of his camper van and crashed into a parked truck. His passing was a shock to many, and co-stars like Angela Lansbury remarked on the sadness of his loss while reflecting on his troubled youth.
