Capucine was a French-American actress best known for her roles in The Pink Panther, North to Alaska, and Song Without End. She was born on January 6, 1928, in Saint-Raphaël, Var, France, and sadly passed away on March 17, 1990, in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Personal and Family Life

Born Germain Hélène Irène Lefebvre, she adopted the stage name Capucine during her modeling career. She was a successful model in Paris and became friends with famous actress Audrey Hepburn. Capucine was married briefly to Pierre Trabaud but did not have any children and never remarried.

Career Highlights

Capucine started her film career in 1949 and gained recognition for her beauty and strong presence. After being discovered by director Charles K. Feldman in 1957, she successfully transitioned to Hollywood from high-fashion modeling. Many of her films, including The Lion and The 7th Dawn, featured her notable co-star William Holden, with whom she had a relationship.

Death and Legacy

Capucine struggled with manic depression throughout her life, which led to several suicide attempts. Her life ended tragically when she jumped from her eighth-floor apartment in Lausanne, Switzerland.
