Carla Mason Ness was born on April 14, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and she grew up in central Pennsylvania. After completing her high school education at State College Area High School in 1973, she pursued studies in theater and dance at American University. She began her modeling career early on, signing with prominent agencies in New York City.
