Carlton Barrett was an American actor best known for his roles in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Dark Summer, and Marley.
Personal and Family Life
Carlton Barrett was born on December 17, 1950, in Kingston, Jamaica. He was the son of Violet Marshall Barrett and Wilfred Barrett and had a brother named Aston Barrett. Barrett was an uncle to Aston Barrett Jr. and had a prominent career as a drummer for Bob Marley & The Wailers.
Death and Legacy
Tragically, Carlton Barrett was shot and killed outside his home in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 15, 1987. Two weeks after his death, his wife, along with her lover and an accomplice, were arrested and charged with his murder. Barrett’s legacy continues through his music and contributions to reggae.
