Cary Grant was born Archibald Alec Leach on January 18, 1904, in Horfield, Bristol, England. He had a difficult childhood, losing his mother to a mental institution when he was just nine years old. Grant left school at 14 to pursue a career in entertainment, starting with a theatrical troupe. Over the years, he was married four times and had one daughter, Jennifer Grant.

Death and Legacy

Cary Grant passed away on November 29, 1986, at the age of 82 due to a cerebral hemorrhage in Davenport, Iowa. Despite retiring from acting, he was active in various businesses and philanthropy until the end of his life. In 1999, he was recognized by the American Film Institute as the second male star of Hollywood’s Golden Age, cementing his legacy as an iconic figure in cinema.
