Charles White

Charles White was an American actor who is best known for his roles in Child’s Play, Inherit the Wind, and Serpico.

Personal and Family Life

Charles Vincent White Jr., nicknamed Bud, was born on August 29, 1918, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He had several siblings, including Mary Cecile, Genevieve, Richard Francis, and Ruth White, the latter also being an actress. After serving in the Army, he graduated from Rutgers University and studied acting in New York City under Sanford Meisner. Later, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career, before eventually returning to Broadway.

Death and Legacy

Charles White passed away on June 20, 2005, in Sarasota, Florida. He was known for his generosity, donating his acting memorabilia and books to the Perth Amboy Public Library, which created the “Ruth White corner” in honor of his sister. Among his donations was the Emmy award won by Ruth White for her outstanding performance in 1964. He also lived with his niece, Nancy, during his later years.
