Chauncey Olcott was an American actor who is best known for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Crimson Peak, and The Departed.

Chauncey Olcott was born on July 21, 1860, in Buffalo, New York. He had two marriages, first to Cora E. James from 1887 to 1895, and later to Margaret O’Donovan, with whom he had a child. His daughter, Janet Olcott Johnstone, was a talented musician who performed at a young age and later chose to focus on family life.

Death and Legacy

Chauncey Olcott passed away on March 18, 1932, in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970 for his contributions to music, particularly Irish ballads. His legacy continues through his family, including five grandchildren.
