Chip Moody was born Robert Phelps Moody II on March 31, 1947, in Oakland, California. He graduated from Baylor University in 1969 with a degree in broadcasting. Moody was married to Vikki Moody until his passing in 2001 and had two children, a son named Trae and a daughter named Tiffin. He was known for his dedication to his work while also facing personal health challenges.
Career
Moody was a prominent news anchor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Houston, famously anchoring at three major network affiliates: KXAS-TV, KDFW-TV, and WFAA-TV. He also worked at KWTX-TV in Waco and was the youngest news director at an ABC affiliate in El Paso. In addition to his broadcasting career, he made cameo appearances in Oliver Stone films, lending his news anchoring talent to “Talk Radio” and “Born on the Fourth of July”.
