Chiquito was born into a lively environment in the La Trinidad neighborhood of Málaga. He began working as a dancer at just eight years old, performing at various flamenco venues. He married Josefa “Pepita” García Gómez in 1950, and the couple shared a deep bond until her death in 2012. His distinctive humor and memorable style captivated audiences throughout his life.

Career

After years of performing as a flamenco dancer, Chiquito gained fame in the early 1990s at the age of 62 when he appeared on the TV show Genio y figura. His unique blend of surrealistic humor quickly endeared him to the public and established him as one of Spain’s most cherished comedians. Following the show’s cancellation, he continued to entertain audiences in various films and television productions, solidifying his legacy in the world of comedy.

Death and Legacy

Chiquito passed away on November 11, 2017, in Málaga due to heart complications. After suffering a fall at home, his health deteriorated, leading to his hospitalization. His ashes were placed in a columbarium at Saint Paul’s church in Málaga, where they rest alongside those of his beloved wife, Pepita. His influence on comedy continues to be felt in Spain, with many remembering him as a cultural icon.
