He graduated from De La Salle High School in New Orleans, where he also taught English and performed in a school production of “Oklahoma.” Known for his athletic build and charisma, he was recognized as a cheerleader during his high school days.

Ventura had a distinguished career as an acting teacher and stage director, serving as the artistic director of Theatre West in Los Angeles. For the last years of his life, he was a principal teacher at the Actors Studio’s West Coast workshop.
