Dan Lurie was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. He was a three-time winner of the Most Muscular Man competition at the A.A.U Senior National Weightlifting Championships and the Mr. America Contest in 1942, 1943, and 1944. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, he was also the New York State Checkers Champion in 1940.
