Her father was a military officer, and she spent her childhood in various places, including Indochina, Senegal, and China, before her family finally settled in Bordeaux. She pursued her education in music and drama at the Bordeaux Conservatoire.
Career
Duval made her professional stage debut as Lola in “Cavalleria Rusticana” with the Bordeaux Opéra in 1943. She later performed at the Paris Opera, where she debuted as Salomé in “Hérodiade,” and also at the Opera Comique as Cio-Cio-San in “Madame Butterfly.” Throughout her career, she became a prominent figure in opera and was a muse to composer Francis Poulenc.
