Dick Danehe was married to Nayda Colleen Lawrence from December 1, 1944, until her death on July 30, 2008. Together they had two children. After serving in the Army, he briefly pursued a football career before transitioning to acting.
Career
Before his acting career, Dick played professional football for several teams, including the Los Angeles Bulldogs and the Chicago Rockets. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he helped rehabilitate injured soldiers and played for the Army football team. Despite an offer to become the ‘Marlboro Man’, he chose not to promote smoking.
Death and Legacy
Dick Danehe passed away on June 20, 2018, and received a military funeral at the U.S. National Cemetery in Riverside, California. His contributions to both sports and acting are remembered by fans and colleagues.
