Don S. Davis was an American actor who is best known for A League of Their Own, The Fan, and Twin Peaks. He was born on August 4, 1942, in Aurora, Missouri, USA, and he passed away on June 29, 2008, in Gibsons, British Columbia, Canada.
Personal and Family Life
Don S. Davis was married to Ruby Fleming-Davis from July 2003 until his death in June 2008. He also had a previous marriage to Sondra Sue Davis, with whom he had one child. He was the son of MT Davis.
Career
In addition to his acting career, Davis served as a captain in the US Army and had military experience, making him the only cast member of Stargate SG-1 with a real military background. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Theatre and Art and later earned a Master’s degree in Theatre, followed by a PhD. He taught at the University of British Columbia for a decade and was also known as a talented artist and wood craftsman.
Death and Legacy
Don S. Davis died from a heart attack on June 29, 2008, in Canada. Following his death, the creators of Stargate: Atlantis honored his character, General Hammond, by naming a new starship after him, reflecting his impact on the series and his legacy in the sci-fi community.
