Doris Dawson was born on April 16, 1909, in Goldfield, Nevada. She was married to Robert Davis Levy from December 27, 1938, until his death on March 25, 1971. Doris was known as a minor brunette starlet of the 1920s and was recognized as a WAMPAS Baby Star of 1929.

Doris started her career in silent films but struggled to transition to sound films as her voice was described as “grating.” She appeared in several films during the late 1920s and early 1930s, attaining some level of fame with titles like The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come and Broadway Scandals.
