Ed Gardner

Ed Gardner was an American actor and writer who is best known for Duffy’s Tavern, Retro Static Radio, and The Man with My Face.

Born on June 29, 1901, in Astoria, New York, Ed Gardner had a successful career in both radio and television. He was married twice, first to Shirley Booth, with whom he divorced in 1942, and later to Simone Hegemann, with whom he had two children. He spent much of his life working as a writer and producer in the entertainment industry.

Death and Legacy

Ed Gardner passed away on August 17, 1963, in Hollywood, California, due to a diseased liver. He left behind a legacy in radio and television, most notably as the creator and star of the popular radio series Duffy’s Tavern. Gardner was honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, recognizing his contributions to both radio and television entertainment.
