Eddie Craven, born John Edward Craven, grew up in a well-known theatrical family. His parents, Edward Craven and Maude Patterson, were both actors, and his uncle, Frank Craven, was a renowned playwright and actor. He had two children: Mary McCutcheon Craven, a writer and actress, and Christopher Barr Craven, a publicist. He was survived by his spouse, Jeanne, and a grandchild named Jake Craven.
Career
Craven made his Broadway debut in 1932 after studying at the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He transitioned into acting, following in the footsteps of his family. After serving in the military during World War II, he created a comic strip titled “Dimestore Daisy.” In addition to his stage work, he also appeared in several films throughout his career.
