Eduardo Vivas

Eduardo Vivas was an American actor best known for his roles in “House of Perdition,” “La culpa de los hombres,” and “El gavilán vengador.” He was born on September 8, 1896, in Havana, Cuba, and passed away on August 19, 1957, in Mexico City, Mexico.

Personal and Family Life

Eduardo de Ceano-Vivas y Sabau, as he was originally named, came from a Spanish family. His father was a soldier who moved from Cuba to Madrid after Cuba’s independence. Eduardo was married twice; first to Amparo Segurola y Gonzalez from 1925 to 1937, with whom he had one daughter, Ana Dolores. He later married Aurora Cortés in 1947.

Career

Eduardo began his acting career in 1919 when he returned to Havana and joined the Teatro Ideal. He played alongside notable actors such as Virginia Fabregas and Prudencia Grifel. He was a founding member of Spain’s first Actors’ Guild and later worked extensively in the Mexican film industry, appearing in over 30 films.

Death and Legacy

Eduardo Vivas died from bronchopneumonia on August 19, 1957, in Mexico City. His contributions to both stage and film left a lasting impact on the acting community. He is remembered for his dedication to the craft and his role in fostering the actors’ community in Spain and Mexico.
