Elisa was born to Hungarian-Jewish parents who were artists, with her mother being a painter. She began playing the piano at the young age of seven and attended the Liszt Ferencz Music Academy. Elisa faced many challenges during her youth, including surviving the harsh conditions of Budapest’s Jewish Ghetto during World War II.

After fleeing Budapest, Elisa settled in New York City, where she performed in cabaret shows and worked diligently on her English. She built a large repertoire of American classic standards and opened her own nightclub, Music Expresso. In Los Angeles, she transitioned to television and became known for her character roles and commercials, showcasing her unique charm and talent.

Death and Legacy

Elisa was diagnosed with lung cancer in the early 2000s but continued to perform into her 80s.
