Ellen Pollock

Ellen Pollock was an American actress who is best known for A Farewell to Arms (1966), The Forsyte Saga (1967), and BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950).

Personal and Family Life

Ellen Pollock was born on June 29, 1902, in Heidelberg, Germany. She was married to Captain Leslie Hancock from 1928 until his death in 1944, with whom she had one child. Later, she married James Proudfoot in 1945, who passed away in 1971.

Career

Pollock often performed in theater, particularly in plays by George Bernard Shaw, and was the long-time president of the Shaw Society. She was also a drama teacher at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Webber Douglas School of Acting. Pollock was inspired to pursue acting after watching the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt.
