Ernest Arnley was married to Gloria Day from November 9, 1935, until her death on September 5, 1972. He had a younger brother, Vic Arnley, and was the brother-in-law of Betty Jumel. Ernest changed his name from Symondson to Arnley in February 1941 by deed poll. He often performed in British variety shows alongside his wife, gaining popularity as a duo.
