Ervin Knausmyuller was born on January 31, 1912, in Linz, Austria. After graduating from a trade academy in 1932, he became active in the anti-fascist resistance movement in Austria between 1933 and 1935. He was arrested by the Nazis but managed to escape to the Soviet Union in 1936, where he commenced a new life.

Career

In the Soviet Union, Knausmyuller worked in various roles, including as a trade consultant and a journalist. He joined the special forces of the NKVD, where he fought bravely in World War II. After the war, he became an editor for a German-language newspaper and later hosted a popular radio show. Knausmyuller made his film debut in 1958 and portrayed many German-speaking characters in more than 20 films throughout his career.

Death and Legacy

Ervin Knausmyuller passed away on January 4, 2000, in Moscow, Russia. He was buried in Vvedenskoe German Cemetery. His legacy endures through his contributions to film and journalism, reflecting his resilience and dedication during times of adversity.
