Ewen Solon was born on September 7, 1917, in Auckland, New Zealand. He was previously married to Vicki Woolf from June 24, 1965, until their divorce on January 12, 1970. Before becoming an actor, Solon worked in various jobs, including farming and as a dock laborer. He gained his first experience in acting with the Napier Repertory Players when he was 20.

Career

After training at RADA in 1947, Solon performed with many repertory companies in London and other cities. He became well-known for his role as Sergeant Lucas in the television series Maigret, where his ability to speak fluent French contributed to the authenticity of his character. His career included guest appearances in Australian television series and notable roles in the popular British show Doctor Who.
