Felix Knight was an American actor who is best known for his roles in March of the Wooden Soldiers, The Bohemian Girl, and Springtime in Holland. He was born on November 1, 1908, in Macon, Georgia, and passed away on June 18, 1998, in New York City.
Personal and Family Life
Felix Knight was married twice. His first marriage was to Alice Moore from October 17, 1935, until their divorce on March 14, 1939. He later married Ethel Blume Knight, with whom he had one child named William Felix Knight II. Felix met Ethel while filming March of the Wooden Soldiers in 1934, where she played the role of the Queen of Hearts.
Career
Although Felix Knight achieved notable success in operetta and musical comedy on stage, he also spent four seasons with the Metropolitan Opera Company between 1946 and 1950. His most memorable roles included Count Almaviva in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and Arturo Bucklaw in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.” In his later years, he focused on teaching singing and voice coaching.
Death and Legacy
Felix Knight died on June 18, 1998, in New York City. He is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, New York. His contributions to music and theater, especially in operetta and musical comedy, left a lasting impression on the performing arts community.
