Ferdinand Marian came from a musical family and began acting on stage in Graz in 1924. He was married to Maria Byk from March 30, 1936, until his death and had another marriage with Irene Saager, with whom he had one child. Despite his personal life being affected by his professional choices, he continued to work in film until the end of his life.
Death and Legacy
Marian died in a car accident on August 7, 1946, near Dürneck, Bavaria, likely while under the influence. He was reportedly driving to Munich to obtain denazification papers, which would allow him to work in film again. His widow, Maria Byk, tragically drowned in 1949, shortly after the trial of the director of Jud Süß. The film significantly impacted his career, leading to a ban on his work due to its controversial themes.
