Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born on August 13, 1926, in Biran, Cuba. He was the fifth of nine children in his family. He married Mirta Díaz-Balart in 1948, and they had one son, but divorced in 1954. Later, he married Dalia Soto del Valle in 1980, with whom he had five children. Castro was tall at 6 feet 3 inches and was often seen in his characteristic green military uniform.

Early Life and Education

As a child, Fidel was known for being rebellious and was sent to a Jesuit boarding school. He later enrolled at the University of Havana, where he earned a law degree. After a brief time practicing law, he became involved in revolutionary activities against the Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista, which led to his imprisonment and eventual exile.

Fidel Castro died on November 25, 2016, in Havana, Cuba.
