Fleur Chandler

Fleur Chandler was an American actress best known for her work in theater and television, including roles in ‘The Bill’, ‘Casualty’, and ‘Emmerdale’. She was born Fleur Annette Nona von Balajthy on February 3, 1948, in Hungary.

Personal and Family Life

Fleur Chandler was married twice. Her first marriage was to Peter Wickham in 1977, but they later divorced. She then married Roy Sanders on January 6, 1984, and they remained together until her death in 2011. Fleur had three step-children and seven grandchildren.

Career

Fleur trained at the Rose Bruford College and performed extensively on stage, including at the Chichester Festival and with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She was particularly noted for her memorable portrayal of Lady Bracknell in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’. Fleur was also recognized for her role as Virgilia in Coriolanus opposite Alan Howard.

Fleur Chandler passed away from cancer on December 15, 2011, in Camden, London, England. Before her death, she bravely shared her cancer journey by participating in Nell Dunn’s ‘Cancer Tales’ at medical conferences both in the UK and abroad.
